Who Was Craig Wood?

Craig Wood Golf Course was originally known as The Lake Placid Golf and Country Club.  It was designed by Seymour Dunn in 1925 as a nine-hole course.  In 1932 the course was extended to 18 holes.

In 1954, The Lake Placid Golf and Country Club had its name changed to Craig Wood to honor its native son.

Craig Wood (November 18, 1901-May 7, 1968) was born in Lake Placid, New York.  As a professional golfer, he won 21 PGA Tour titles.
